After learning that a Michigan high school had scheduled a cruel “donkey basketball” event, we shared our concerns with administrators. With the help of a student—who started a petition and a Facebook page and met with organizers—the superintendent and principal compassionately agreed to cancel the game and replace it with a humane alternative.
