Church Removes Deadly Bird Net

We received a call about how birds were becoming trapped and dying behind an improperly installed bird deterrent net at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Manhattan. We spoke with the pastor, but he repeatedly declined to take action to help the trapped birds. We contacted The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), and a humane law-enforcement officer convinced church officials to open up the net, freeing the birds. In the following days, thanks to encouragement from members who responded to our action alert, the net was removed completely.
