The Cowboy Church Uses a Toy Opossum for Its Annual ‘Possum Drop’

December 2011

PETA sent a toy opossum to the Cowboy Church in Jerusalem-Fairmount, Georgia, for its annual “Possum Drop” on New Year’s Eve. The church’s compassionate decision to use a toy opossum instead of a live one meant that no animal was forced to withstand bright lights, a crowd of New Year’s revelers, and live music while confined to a small wire cage for hours. The church director was proud to declare that their opossum was a “PETA-approved” one!
