Joanna Krupa and the Bloody Truth Behind the Wool Industry

Joanna Krupa

Actor and reality star Joanna Krupa is used to turning heads, but not quite like this. In a chilling ad, she appears battered, bruised, and naked holding a “sheep” who is bloodied from being beaten and abused for wool. Violence on wool farms is not exclusive to the farm featured in this video. In every one of PETA’s five investigations of  wool farms in Australia and Argentina, we see the same thing: sheep are punched, dragged through their own urine, and cut and sewn together without any painkillers, and some are even killed.

Just like cows and dogs in the leather industry and rabbits in the angora industry, sheep raised for wool suffer greatly. These gentle animals are often beaten, kicked, and mutilated so that their wool can be made into sweaters, coats, scarves, gloves, and boots. Compassion is always the best fashion statement that we can make for animals. Get rid of any wool or shearling clothing and accessories that you have in your wardrobe.

When Joanna learned about the suffering and abuse that sheep endure in the wool industry, she was inspired to become involved. She says, “PETA educates me …. I had no idea that people were so cruel. They beat these sheep …. [A]t least a human being can ask for help, can call the police …. An animal can’t.”

Watch her exclusive behind-the-scenes conversation:

Do your part for animals. Sheep are known for being docile, gentle animals, which makes their abuse even more unbearable to imagine. Compassion will always be in fashion, and having a heart is easier than ever. With vegan clothes, shoes, handbags, and accessories in high demand, both major fashion houses and everyday retailers are jumping on board the cruelty-free trend, making these items easily accessible.
