Barilla Bans Animal Testing After Talks With PETA

July 1, 2015

Barilla, the largest pasta company in the world, issued a new policy banning all animal testing for its products and ingredients after being contacted by PETA about the company’s published studies detailing cruel experiments on rats in order to evaluate potential health claims about wheat. After PETA explained the experiments’ irrelevance to human health and pointed to the many non-animal research methods available, Barilla quickly agreed to work with PETA to draft a new policy against animal testing and collaborate in the future to develop new non-animal methods. Barilla is now a proud cruelty-free company, with plenty of delicious vegan options for everyone to enjoy. It joins a growing list of companies—including The Coca-Cola Company, Welch’s, Lipton, and Ocean Spray—that have worked with PETA to end animal tests.
