North Carolina Woman Convicted After PETA Finds Decomposing Remains of Three Dogs

After PETA fieldworkers discovered the decomposing remains of three dogs, Juju, Drako, and Eve, still chained by their doghouses on a Bertie County property, authorities filed criminal charges against their owner. For years, PETA had regularly visited the property, providing food, doghouses, water buckets, and other aid while urging that the animals be surrendered to safety. Despite those efforts, the dogs died after enduring prolonged neglect. The owner was later convicted of cruelty to animals and animal abandonment and was sentenced to probation and barred from owning animals during that period.
