North Carolina Woman Pleads Guilty After PETA Finds Dog With Collar Embedded in Her Neck

PETA fieldworkers responding to a Bertie County property during dangerously cold winter weather found a dog named Cinnamon chained outdoors with a collar embedded in her neck. The wound was infected and required immediate veterinary care. After alerting authorities, PETA rushed Cinnamon for treatment and worked with local officials to ensure the case was investigated. Her custodian was charged with and later pleaded guilty to cruelty to animals. Thanks to PETA’s intervention, Cinnamon received the lifesaving care she desperately needed, and authorities took action to address the neglect she endured. After recovering from medical treatment, Cinnamon was adopted into a safe, loving home.
