Sweet Success! Sugar Mills Give Working Bulls a Break

Five sugar mills earned PETA India’s new “100% Bull-Free” certification for mechanizing sugarcane transport, sparing exhausted, ailing bulls from being forced to haul overloaded carts in relentless heat under the threat of whips and spiked weapons. And following extensive PETA India efforts, the state of Karnataka banned animal-drawn carts from the annual Chinchali Fair, encouraging attendees to take PETA-subsidized buses and protecting thousands of animals from a grueling, days-long journey. Wins! Big Brands Banish Badger Hair

After discussions with PETA, Target, Neiman Marcus, Ulta Beauty, Kohl’s, Michaels, and Macy’s joined more than 100 other brands and retailers in banning badger-hair brushes. PETA Asia’s second exposé of China’s badger-hair industry revealed wounded animals trapped in waste-drenched cages and a conscious badger being beaten, stabbed, and skinned alive, leading South Korean outlet Hair Mall, Australia’s Shaver Shop, New Zealand–based BarberShop Co, Taiwan e-retailer Pinkoi, and others to also drop badger hair. Brush up on paint and shaving brush labels before you buy, and urge remaining holdouts to change.

Wayne Brady Lets Dogs Do the Talking

Theatergoers weren’t the only ones catching Wayne Brady in New York this year. As he starred in La Cage aux Folles, the Emmy winner lit up Manhattan taxi tops in a PETA campaign celebrating dogs as beloved family members. Alongside two of his four adopted senior dogs, Brady reminds viewers in an accompanying video to try to see life from dogs’ perspective, including the importance to them of leisurely walks. “They talk to me! Oh, yeah – if you listen, and I mean really, really listen to what they’re saying, you can understand,” he says. Catch what else Brady and his dogs have to say.

One Shearer on House Arrest, More Plead Guilty

Six months of house arrest and one year of probation: That’s the sentence a court handed the first shearer ever to be convicted of cruelty to animals in New Zealand as a result of PETA Asia’s investigation into more than 30 wool farms and shearing sheds in that country – including 11 with “humane” certifications. At every one, investigators documented routine violence, including that workers threw and beat sheep and gouged them with blades. Three other shearers have pleaded guilty and will be sentenced soon, and more charges may follow. Please, right now, tell H&M to stop shilling for sheep abusers by selling wool.

This Festival Is Past Its Shell-by Date

PETA gave visitors to the Maine Lobster Festival something to chew on when a human “lobster” was served up on a giant plate, challenging onlookers to see the individual behind the entrée. Lobsters can recognize other individual lobsters, carry their babies for about nine months, and live for over 100 years. The eye-catching protest didn’t just stop traffic; it dominated social media, racking up more than 75 million views. Don’t be shellfish: Leave lobsters (and other animals) off your plate. Dive into delicious vegan seafood, and watch PETA’s investigation.

Featuring realistic, color-coded silicone organs, it provides hands-on learning without cruelty. Already attracting widespread media attention, Kind Piglet was featured by FOX Memphis, CBS New York, Spectrum News Orlando, and numerous other US outlets. Universities Throw in the Towel on Near-Drowning Tests

The hideously cruel forced swim test is sinking fast! Following action by PETA entities and fellow advocates, Universidad Austral de Chile and New Zealand’s Victoria University of Wellington banned the cruel near-drowning experiment, and four Indian institutions also now prohibit it. The German Mouse Clinic won’t use it again, and three German states report no planned tests. Ireland has severely restricted it, including banning its use for depression and anxiety experiments. Please, help us bust more small animals out of beakers.

Billie Eilish’s Words Hit Hard in Times Square

After Billie Eilish challenged people to think honestly about the disconnect between caring about animals and eating them, PETA amplified her remarks with a massive Times Square display. Positioned beside McDonald’s and Popeyes – and near theaters screening Eilish’s concert film Hit Me Hard and Soft – the billboard gave everyone something important to chew over. Please join in: Challenge everyone you know to show love and respect by not eating animals. Order some free vegan starter kits to distribute.

Historic Victory! Pig Hauler Convicted of Cruelty

For the first time in US history, a truck driver has been held accountable under law for cruelly hauling farmed animals. The landmark conviction followed a PETA tip to Wisconsin authorities that the driver had transported pigs through such horrific conditions – including windchills as low as -27 degrees F – with virtually no protection from the elements that 10 of them froze to death during and after the roughly 432-mile trip and five others had to be killed soon after. Please issue your verdict on meat-industry cruelty: Choose delicious vegan ham, bacon, sausage, and other animal-free fare – and pass it on by buying an extra package for the person behind you in the checkout line and feeding your neighbors. Home, Bleat Home! A Grand New Life for Hundreds of ‘Dairy’ Goats

After two PETA investigations revealed that owners and staff at Oregon’s Grand Barr Dairy kicked and punched goats and left them suffering from emaciation, burst abscesses, and lameness so severe that they walked on their knees, we persuaded authorities to charge the owners with 478 counts of felony animal neglect and seize the nearly 240 surviving goats. But the sheriff sent approximately 200 goats to another exploitative dairy, kicking off months of PETA efforts to retrieve them and retire them to sanctuaries. Now, every last goat is safe. Help us celebrate with delicious dairy-free cheeses.

‘Monkeys’ Get in Line to Block the Primate Pipeline

A troop of giant “monkeys” descended on New Delhi as PETA India and Aashray Foundation supporters urged officials to restore long-held safeguards for rhesus macaques under the Wild Life Protection Act. Foreign monkey importers are reportedly eyeing the population for use in laboratories, threatening to drag them into the violent global pipeline in which monkeys are abducted, shipped overseas, tormented, and killed in experiments. Please urge the US Department of Health and Human Services to shut down the primate pipeline.

PETA Fights Bullfights and Wins

Momentum is building: A historic French court ruling declared that bullfighting is not a sport, and French influencer Jeremstar and four other PETA UK animal defenders who protested at the Arena of Nîmes were acquitted of wrongdoing. In Mexico, PETA Latino and local groups persuaded Tijuana to ban bullfighting and compelled courts in Tixkokob, Temozón, Muna, and Seyé in Yucatán to bar weapons and any actions that could harm bulls used in the events. As PETA entities continue the global fight for bulls’ rights, Morrissey, ahead of his concerts in Barcelona and Madrid, urged Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to ban the merciless, macabre melees, and Spanish actor Núria Gago spoke out with a striking ad and video campaign. Bulls need you to join in: Please urge Pope Leo XIV to end the Church’s support for this unholy cruelty.
