West Coast Game Park Owner Sentenced to Over 7 Years in Prison Over Criminal Animal Neglect

West Coast Game Park Safari owner Brian Tenney was sentenced to 7.5 years of incarceration after pleading guilty to 47 criminal charges, including 43 counts of animal neglect. The case was sparked by PETA’s reports of ongoing neglect at Tenney’s operation to Oregon State Police beginning in 2024 until law enforcement raided the roadside zoo in May 2025, confiscating 322 animals. Authorities found evidence that Tenney had let animals starve to death, and others suffered with severe infections and other maladies. Animals were also confined to windowless concrete dungeons, and a chimpanzee was held in solitary confinement in a small, dilapidated cage and was found to be thin and diseased. In addition to prison time, Tenney’s sentence also includes three years of post-imprisonment supervision, a 15-year ban on possessing numerous classes of animals, and paying more than $340,000 in restitution for the cost of care for the animals seized from his now-defunct roadside zoo.
