No More Animal Tests at Oreo

The world’s top-selling cookie is cruelty-free (and vegan!) after PETA and our supporters pressed Oreo-maker Mondelez International to end experiments on animals, such as forcing mice to eat human feces, chemicals, and glass beads. PETA ensured that the new policy contains no loopholes for animal experiments not required by law and applies to all brands, including Ritz and Triscuit crackers. Urge Wegmans Food Markets to redirect its funding for the Food Research Institute to human testing only.

PETA Investigation Results in Jockey Being Banned for Life

When jockey Jose Nicasio repeatedly used an electric shock device on horses, someone was watching: PETA. After our yearlong investigation into Nicasio’s activities at unregulated “bush tracks,” the California Horse Racing Board effectively banned him from racing in the state ever again. PETA has blown the lid off the seedy, crime-ridden underworld of bush track Quarter Horse racing, also resulting in a raid by US federal agents on a track in Idaho and arrests. Right away, bush track races in Utah and Illinois were canceled in a great three-for-one victory for horses. PETA’s investigations have caught race teams injecting horses with methamphetamine and cocaine. Many horses pushed beyond their limits on these tracks have died from shattered bones or heart attacks. Help shut down this clandestine underworld of crime and cruelty.

Now Hear This! Sam Asghari Sticks Up for Pups’ Ears

Iranian-American actor and model Sam Asghari doesn’t need any help in the looks department, and he wants everyone to see that dogs don’t, either. In a charming new PETA video campaign, Asghari shares why he would never harm his dog, Porsha, by mutilating her sensitive ears. His timely message came right after PETA rushed an appeal to Olympic gymnast Simone Biles and her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, imploring the couple to stop buying dogs with hacked-off ears.

US Military Orders ‘Don’t Shoot!’ Animals in Trauma Training

In a historic win, the US banned live-fire trauma training on animals across every branch of its military, sparing thousands of pigs, goats, and other animals from being shot in 2026. PETA has led this fight, going undercover to expose the horrors and winning victories, starting with the US Coast Guard’s abandonment of the practice in 2017. Now, please join us in urging the US Navy to end its cruel decompression sickness experiments – as the British and French navies did.

PETA Has Forced Swim Test Circling the Drain

Small animals can breathe easier as PETA entities persuade research institutions to stop near-drowning experiments on them. Forcing rodents to swim endlessly in beakers of water reveals nothing about human depression or anxiety, as Australia’s University of Melbourne and pharmaceutical research companies Melior Discovery and Creative Biolabs have now acknowledged. The UK Home Office confirmed that its remaining licenses for the test expire in 2028 and won’t be renewed. Help sink these experiments worldwide.

PETA Seeks to Bridge Meaty City’s Budget Gap

With the deteriorating Third Street Bridge in Minot, North Dakota, in need of repairs, we found a way to challenge the city’s meaty reputation by urging the mayor to greenlight a win-win offer: PETA will help pay to place a cow-friendly message on the overpass. Every cow is an individual – just like Veronika, a cow in Austria who captured hearts around the world as she expertly maneuvered a broom in her mouth to scratch herself in inaccessible places. We pointed out that going vegan not only helps animals but also prevents our own arteries from collapsing. Get started.

Got a Yarn About a Sheep?

If you’ve ever met, or if you share your life with, sheep who have surprised you with their unique personalities, deep family bonds and friendships, problem-solving skills, acts of altruism or courage, or something else, please let us know! PETA is gathering true stories that will show people that sheep are not just something that goes into a woolly hat or a shearling coat, but individuals, curious, affectionate, and clever. Please share your stories by writing to [email protected].

PETA’s Poorva Joshipura: From Intern to ‘Impact 100’

She was just 22 when she joined PETA as an intern in 1999, and now Poorva Joshipura not only is director of
PETA India and president of PETA International but also has been recognized in New India Abroad’s Impact 100 list – alongside US second lady Usha Vance, former US Vice President Kamala Harris, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, astronaut Sunita Williams, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, and other Indian-American changemakers. Her books, Survival at Stake and For a Moment of Taste (available at the PETA Shop), are bestsellers; her guidance is sought at all hours of the day and night from her staff on different continents; and yet she still finds time to do hands-on work and to conduct street demos. This striking protest in Jaipur is just one example of Poorva’s creative campaigning. Make your compassion count: Join PETA’s Action Team.

Coffee Lovers Espresso Thanks: Cafés End Plant Milk Penalties

Price is no longer a factor in choosing a cup of coffee as PETA entities and supporters continue to roast unfair upcharges for 100% humane, eco-friendly vegan milks. The latest chains to drop their kindness tax include Starbucks Italy, Washington, DC-based Busboys and Poets, and international brands PJ’s and Caribou Coffee. Tell The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf to flee the fee.

Gavin Rossdale and Kaya: Adoption Rocks!

Want to meet Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale? Try visiting an animal shelter, and you may spot him snuggling with animals or adopting his next bandmate. The rock icon chose LA’s East Valley Animal Shelter, where he adopted his dog, Kaya, to unveil the pair’s new PETA ad and endearing video. In it, Rossdale urges, “Please don’t buy from breeders, and please consider going to a shelter because those animals really, really need you, and the bond you will get and the rewards are immeasurable.”

Influential Indians Proclaim: Bovines Aren’t Bags or Balls

Much of the world’s leather comes from India, where PETA India investigations have revealed that the necks of
abused cows are sawed into with dull knives while they’re still conscious. Kind Indians demand protection for these sacred animals. Karishma Tanna, star of Netflix’s Scoop, appeared in a hard-hitting ad campaign for PETA India, while Sanspareils Greenlands CEO Paras Anand won PETA India’s Innovation Award for his company’s animal skin– free professional-level cricket ball that outperforms leather versions. Implore the National Football League and Canadian Football League to switch to cruelty-free balls.

Travel Companies Put Cruelty on Ice

After learning from PETA that more than 150 dogs have died in Alaska’s treacherous Iditarod dog-sled race, tour operator Insight Vacations scrubbed all mentions of the archaic event and committed never to support it again. When we informed Australian-founded Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours that dogs used for sledding excursions are chained in all weather extremes when they aren’t being forced to pull sleds of tourists, the company made the same move. Please bark back at the remaining Iditarod sponsors.

Major Chains Peel Glue Traps off Shelves

In the most recent victories from our determined campaigns to ban barbaric glue traps, India’s third-largest pharmacy chain, Wellness Forever, and Canada’s largest dollar store operator, Dollarama, adhered to their kind principles and dumped glue traps, joining Target, Walgreens, Dollar General, and many other retailers. Culver City, California, became the latest locale to pass a ban. Be a mouse musketeer! Get involved and get tips on humanely helping mice back outside.

Fashion Police Bust Hermès as Accessory to Murder

PETA France supporters got everyone’s attention outside the Hermès show during Paris Fashion Week in an arresting protest against the company’s use of wild-animal skins. Mother crocodiles hear their babies chirping while in their eggs and help them work their way out, then gently carry the babies in their mouths to protect
them. But as PETA entities have revealed, crocodiles are housed in filthy tanks full of their own waste and hacked to pieces to make handbags. Find fabulous animal-free fashions at PETAApprovedVegan.com.
