6.16.070 – Alteration of estrayed cats.

If an impounded cat has not been claimed within one day of the date of impoundment, the New Castle police department or its designee may authorize the alteration of the cat without obtaining the consent of the purported owner. If an owner comes forward to claim the altered cat, that owner shall be assessed the full costs of the alteration services, in addition to other impoundment fees and expenses. The owner shall remit full fees and expenses, including the cost of the alteration service, before the altered cat shall be released from the custody of the animal control facility.
