Airbnb and Other Travel Companies Cut Ties with Camel and Horse Rides at the Giza Pyramids

After meeting with PETA, Airbnb stopped selling tours and experiences that include camel and horse rides at the Giza Pyramids, acknowledging that these offerings violate its animal welfare standards. Since PETA’s latest investigation became public, other travel companies—including Black Tomato, Shore Excursions Group, ToursByLocals, Under30Experiences, and World Travel Holdings—also committed to stop offering rides at the site. Investigators recently uncovered a hidden graveyard where, every day, new animals were dumped like trash behind the pyramids after being worked to death. Everyone can help urge Egypt’s minister of Tourism and Antiquities to ban the use of horses and camels at the pyramids and other tourist sites.
