Travel Companies Take Action for Suffering Camels in Giza

Travel companies operating across the nation—including Scott Dunn, TCS World Travel, Travel Leaders Group, and Wilderness Travel—quickly agreed not to promote abusive animal rides at the pyramids of Giza after learning from PETA that horses and camels are forced to haul or carry visitors in the blistering heat without access to food, water, or shade. Many are so emaciated that their ribs jut out. Animals will continue to suffer as long as tourists pay for rides and photo ops with them. Everyone can help end this needless suffering by urging Egypt’s minister of tourism to replace camel rides and horse-drawn carriages with non-animal modes of transportation. Anyone thinking of riding a camel on their next trip should watch the footage here.
