The ProblemIt's simple math: There are too many companion animals and not enough good adoptive homes. Many people breed animals intentionally or fail to prevent them from bringing unplanned litters into a world that is bursting at the seams with unwanted animals!
The ResultBetween 6 million and 8 million unwanted dogs and cats are dumped at animal shelters in the U.S. each year, and between 3 million and 4 million must be put to death. Even worse are the fates of animals who suffer on the streets or are trapped at the end of a chain in a lonely back yard.
The SolutionPeople like you! We are looking for some dedicated volunteers to join our ABC (Animal Birth Control) Volunteer Program. Does that sound like a challenge? We promise you that the reward will be far greater than you can imagine. Once you start making a difference, you won't be able to stop—and animals will be safer and happier for it! Your next step? Get out there!
ABC volunteers take a hands-on approach in their communities by educating residents about spaying and neutering and proper animal care, providing hands-on help to "backyard" dogs, transporting animals to the vet for spaying and neutering, watching out for neglect and cruelty, and much more!
If you are interested in learning more about the volunteer program and getting active in your community, you can view and download the pack information below or e-mail us at AnimalBirthControl@peta.org.
You can also stay in touch with our ABC campaign by signing up for our e-news.
Thank you for volunteering to prevent suffering and save lives. Let's kill the overpopulation crisis together!
