‘Win It’ Wednesday: Cat Cabin

Written by PETA | August 18, 2010

Everyone knows that cats love boxes— but doesn’t Kitty deserve something a little more special than the tattered cardboard box that your purchase was shipped in? Why, yes—yes she does! Toss your Zappos box in the recycle bin and enter to win one of these stylish and sturdy kitty cabins from Loyal Luxe. You’ll be the cat’s meow.

kitty cabin.jpg

Made from recycled cardboard, the cat cabin includes a textured “carpet,” three balls, and four decorative ornaments that you can use to personalize your cat’s new pad. Does Kitty prefer the “moose” head, the fish, or the banner on which you can write her name for all to see? You two can work that out once you win.

To enter, simply tell us what you’ve done lately to make your cat adore you. The comment that most leaves us purring will win.

The contest ends on September 1, 2010, and we’ll select the winner on September 3, 2010. Be sure to read our privacy policy and terms and conditions, as you’re agreeing to both by commenting. Good luck!

wouldent it be more enviromentally friendly to just make a cat house yourself out of that zappos box?

  • Shannan says:

I give my kitty attention. She’s super sweet and when I get home from somewhere she’ll be waiting at the door for me. So I give her some loving. And then walk over to her food bowl and pet her while she eats she LOVES attention while she’s eating the silly head . That’s about it but she certainly adores me as I adore her!

My cat has been getting to enjoy summer produce to the fullest by sampling ingredients while I cook. Her favorite is celery leaves but she’s strangely also fond of veggie bacon!

I buy only Wellness cat food organic catnip toys and top of the line cat furniture for my 4 cats. I also get to sleep in my own bed as they allow me to.

I gave my baby Jimmy a bath since he’s been itching like crazy from fleas lately…I hate to see him licking himself nonstop and a bath did just the trick. The last 3 nights he’s been fleafree and cuddling up beside me happy as can be.

When replacing my old mattress with a new one I put the old one in the living room and my cats went crazy for it! Clawing it and climbing up and down on it. I didn’t have the heart to take it from them so now I have an old mattress in my living room for good.

I like to go on walks with my cat Misty. I never let her out of my sight… and more importantly she never leaves my side. She takes me all over my neighbourhood showing me her favourite places. 3

My boyfriend didn’t even like kittyz when he moved in and then he fell in love with one of our kittens and named her Panapoo. She chose him for her guardian right away. He lets her sit on his shoulder and walks around the house with her up there stopping to let her climb up on the refrigerator or shelves and things of different heights to peak her kitty curiosity. He brings home boxes from his work and builds crazy multi level kitty hideaways which we leave up until they become overused and he gets to wk on the next one! He is currently buying the materials to build a screen enlosed kitty room with a kitty ladder and human sized entry from the outside th will allow them to climb out from the bathroom window into the enclosed outdoor playroom! He makes me proud to have a great kitty friendly boyfriend th changed his view of kittyz all because of Panapoo!

We have special needs cats 2 so we have been spending extra time and loving them even more. One is 19 and is failing slowly so we want to give him whatever makes him happy. He loves “houses” to hang out in. This would be the perfect gift for Mr. Peanut.

my cat missy is attached to me at the shoulder…literally…shoulder haha i rescued her in the winter when she was almost dead from lack of nutrition the extreme cold and worms. When i found her she was nothing but skin and bones as i held her in my arms we made eye contact and she has loved me ever since i raised her back to health and now she follows me everywhere i go. When i sit on the couch she has to be on me and when i sleep she has to be cuddled up to my chest and no where else she will wake up if i roll over and come right back to being against my chest. I love my missy kitty.

From the perspective of Miss KitKat Geisbert When my mom and dad adopted me from the Humane Society in 2007 I was only a baby and I was super nervous! I hid for the first few days..and even made my mommy cry because she thought I may have run away. When I finally realized that they were NOT bad people I timidly attempted to make their house my home. Now three years later I am the happiest kitty in the world. I spend my days lounging around wrestling with my brother RufRuf a 2 year old Yorkiemix and playing FETCH! Every morning I meow at my parents to get them out of bed. The best thing about mornings is my mom always gives me a nice long head rub then opens the windows so I can gaze upon the world beyond my home.

Oh goodness I shiver to think of what a crazy cat lady I will sound like when I write this… My adoptive kitty has an unhealthy obsession with me. Now that sentence might sound adorable but then again you dont have to wake up with two green eyes staring at you every morning at 535 am on the dot…ON THE DOT… She follows me in the bathroom with her bonechilling meow that sounds like “MOOOOOOOOOOM!” may GOD strike me dead it honeslty sounds like that!! she takes out her inner prey drive on my big toe she’s not declawed caz thats cruel but then again what she has done to my toe isnt exactly nice and she thinks the keyboard is exceptionally cozy when I have to write a term paper. This cat has made me feel like a full time mother and yet I love this little wierdo dearly.. so I decided to make a kitty town complete with scratching posts ya nomore bloody toe! and playthings so I can have ‘grown up’ time while she burns up energy. Its a work in progress but this little cat cabin would be a perfect fit. I hope you consider Me and Smiddle dig the name?.. please. think of my big toe!

My 5 year old cat Thor was adopted from a shelter. He’s almost your average tabby unless you are into music and notice the repeat symbols on his cheeks. When we adopted him we got him a great break away collar with custom tags and a floor to ceiling kitty condo that’s about 5ft wide with faux fur coverings and sisal posts. He also has cardboard scratching posts. He has his own bedroom and eats premium cat food milk made for cats and good chunky cat food daily. He has a kitty water fountain. My kids and I are home with him all day to spoil him rotten when he’s awake and looking for love. He’s microchipped and has a leash and harness so he can play in our yard. We have a big window with a bird feeder right outside for his entertainment and a garden window for him to sun in and eat grass and catnip fresh. He’s neutered and up to date on all his shots and got his teeth cleaned. Any treat we think of that he likes he gets. We’ve had him for a year and even though he sprays occasionally and rules the roost he’s our baby and we’ll love him and keep him forever.

We both live in an apartment in Sao Paulo Brazil. She was rescued from a shelter when she was a baby some 11 years ago and we’ve been best friends ever since. She rules and I obey or so she thinks! It’s Winter here and although we do not have real cold weather we miss the sun as we’re from Rio de Janeiro. So I had an idea and moved an armchair facing the bay window. The sun comes through it just for her. Every day she waits for the sun and stays there for hours with her golden fur shining at the sun light. This morning she stared at me peacefully with her greenest eyes ever as if saying ‘thank you’! Not at all baby!

My cat Rambo was not too happy at first when I started taking in foster dogs. He already tolerates our rescue dog and he thought that was plenty generous of him. So I treated him to a new carpeted cat perch so he can rise above it all where he thinks he deserves to be anyway. I think this cat condo would work nicely to give him a ground floor hiding spot as well.

Lately my mom has been making my baby girl Talula stay outside all day even though it’s summer and the temperature here in Texas has been in the 100’s everyday. I feel horrible so I sneak my little cutie in my room where it’s air conditioned. She loves it.3

  • robin says:

Not sure if she adores me but I know she depends on me. An outside stray that I’ve been feeding sheltering from the wind cold rain and heat. I call her ‘mommy kitty’ only because I know she’s been pregnant several times in the 3 years I’ve known her. I understand that she’s been in this area for at least 8. I feed her every morning and every evening along with some other strays. She’s old blind for the most part and I think her hearing is gone. People have said that I should call and have her ‘picked’ up but I just don’t have the heart to ‘play God”..she’s a true survivor. I probably won’t be able to endure seeing her go through another harsh winter as we had here in the East again and I don’t think she’ll make it through either. All I know as I love her have a deep respect for her.

  • Aneliese says:

My young cat Bogart likes it when I microwave up his food and give him treats and I when we play fetch!

  • Angela Stemmer says:

After going Vegan and eating such fresh foods I decided to start growing real fresh catnip unlike the dried stuff you can buy. I purchased it from my local farmer’s market and I’ve never seen Buddy my rescue cat so happy before. I even started giving him freshly grown wheat grass and he prefer’s it to his canned meals…it makes my happy to know that he is more happy now

My husband built our adorable catthat my sister rescued along with her kittens a beautiful window perch that she absolutely adores and uses everday… but what really makes her purr is when she is snuggled up in my lap or when she curls up next to me in bed.. love when I wake up and she is just staring at me adoringly!! Thanks for the opportunity to win!!
