Send In the (Killer) Clown

Written by PETA | November 24, 2009

Last year’s McDonald’s Thanksgiving Parade in Chicago was chock-full of behemoth balloon characters and live entertainment (was that the cast of Jersey Boys I saw serenading their way down State Street?), but something was missing …

Wait, I know! Where was the killer clown? Considering that McDonald’s refuses to adopt controlled-atmosphere killing (CAK)—the less cruel slaughter method that would spare birds from having their throats cut while they’re still conscious and from being scalded alive—no parade sponsored by the fast-food fiend would be complete without a bloodstained float full of terrified birds being butchered by “Raging Ronnie,” the grand marshal of gore. That’s why we recently submitted a request to sponsor the following float in this year’s parade:

Float

This float idea? I’m totally lovin’ it. No word yet on what the parade organizers think. While we’re waiting for an answer, tell us about an animal rights–themed float that you would like to see in a major parade …

Don’t you think this is going too far??? My 3 year old brother still has nightmares about that psycho killer clown trying to get him. As if you cared about children…he’s not a puppy or a kitten.

I would love to see a float with a global warming theme since livestock is now responsible for 51 of greenhouse gases emission according to the Worldwatch Institute. Copenhagen Climate Conference is coming soon.

I think this is a wonderful idea. I’m against McDonalds and KFC completely because if they’re going to kill chickens for food they could do it in a better way than their previous ways. Hope all goes well and the float can be put in the parade! And major props whoever helps make this happen

listening to Michael Jackson’s “Earth Song” while typing A float I would like to see would be a similar setup a la this design I am viewing but with a troupe of “chickens” paying tribute to Michael Jackson by singing “They Don’t Care About Us” as a means to get animal lovers to love the animals and hate Mickey D’s.

I’m englishfrom London and every year we have a huge carnival called the Notting Hill Carnival. It celebrates West Indian culture and is chock a block with fried chicken and people chomping on KFC. I would like to see a float saying ”Chicken Time! dead chickens come to carnival after being scaled alive and tortured straight to a plate near you!.”
