Iron Chef America

Set your TiVo! On August 29, the winner of PETA’s Fine Faux Foie Gras contest, Dirt Candy’s Amanda Cohen, takes on Masaharu Morimoto in Iron Chef America‘s very first all-vegetarian challenge.

We already know that the episode’s secret ingredient will be compassion. But questions remain about how much viewers will see: Cohen says that she literally worked her pants off—will the show include that big reveal? Will she make Morimoto fall to his knees? Will you tune in to find out?

While we wait to see what masterful concoction Amanda whips up, why not try making your own serving of her award-winning mushroom mousse? It’ll give you reason to cheer her on.

im watching this now I though vegetarian ment u could not have dairy as it comes from animals so far i have seen sour cream and butter but since they have not mention it was faux one can presume it was real butter and sour cream which both of those are dairy so how can it be all vegetarian?…and from what i have seen butter and sour cream only being used by cohen.but then as of typing this it is only 20 mins into the show give or take a few mins for tv ad’s.

That’s actually funny that was just mentioned..I saw Sandra Lee a few weeks back and asked her about any vegetarian books she was going to do. I think that should be Peta’s next step write to the food network for a veggie show.

She’s competing against the one fellow who has the best record from Japan as well as the American Iron Chefs. The only one better was Sakai in the Japanese version. She’s got an uphill challenge.

Oh this looks fun especially since typically they use meats like poor little bunnies and live octopi as dishes in most episodes I’ve seen. I think we should have a vegetarian as a food network star even if most people wouldn’t like the idea.

I am so excited! I was just watching the next food network star and saw they did an Iron Chef challenge I said “out loud” “will they ever do a vegetarian version”? This is SUPER NEWS!!! thank you for sharing!
