Story Time and Cookies With an ‘Elephant’ at PETA’s D.C. Office

Elephants don’t want to entertain humans. But Ella, PETA’s D.C. office courtyard elephant, is more than happy to.

Ella frequently has her picture taken with tourists and sends postcards to kids who write to her. So she thought, why not invite kids to visit and give them a fun way to learn about bullying and compassion for others—no matter what they look like?

Children across the country face an epidemic of bullying, so it’s more important than ever to teach them to have empathy and respect for all living beings. Story time with Ella both educates and empowers them to make a difference through their actions.

Children interact with Ella and enjoy stories, sing songs, make crafts, and take home coloring books and vegan animal crackers.

And if you can’t bring your class to her, Ella will come to you! On her blog, she’s inviting kids from across the country to send her drawings, letters, questions about her life, pledges never to go to a circus that uses animals, or anything they’d like to share. Every child will receive a personalized response from Ella on a postcard with her photo.
