‘MUGnificent!’ PJ’s Coffee Brews Up Compassion By Ditching the Vegan Milk Upcharge
Brew-tiful! After hearing from PETA, PJ’s Coffee will stop charging extra for vegan milk—a move that earns a whole latte love from PETA and conscientious consumers who want to slash greenhouse gas emissions and leave cows and their calves in peace. In thanks, PETA is sending PJ’s Coffee a box of delicious vegan chocolates.

PJ’s Coffee—which has nearly 200 locations across the country, as well as locations in Vietnam and Kuwait—joins a rapidly growing list of coffee chains, including Starbucks and Dunkin’, that have dropped their upcharges within the past year following pressure from PETA.
How PJ’s Coffee and Other Upcharge-Free Chains Are Brewing a Better World for Animals, the Planet, and Consumers
Charging extra for vegan milks discriminates against consumers who are vegan, lactose intolerant, or who care about the environment, all while propping up the cruel dairy industry.
Cows have deep maternal instincts and, like all mothers, produce milk only to nourish their precious babies. On dairy farms, workers forcibly manually impregnate cows and tear their babies from them, typically within a day of birth. Cows are sent to slaughter when the dairy industry can no longer exploit them for their milk.

Dairy production also contributes significantly to pollution, deforestation, and water depletion. Plus, cows on dairy farms belch out massive amounts of methane—a potent greenhouse gas that traps heat in the atmosphere, fueling the climate catastrophe.
Customers shouldn’t be punished for keeping cruelty out of their cups, caring about the environment, or protecting their health—and thanks to PJ’s and many other major coffee chains, we’re one step closer to a fee-free future.
