Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Banana-Mayo Sandwich Gets Push From PETA

Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s Twitter followers didn’t exactly deem his mayo-and-banana sandwich worthy of the winner’s circle. So race fans at PETA, which is headquartered in NASCAR country, have sent Earnhardt a basket of egg-free Just Mayo that he can lap up to help himself stay in racing shape.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

“We heard that banana-mayonnaise sandwiches get your engine revving,” the Junior fans wrote. “So we thought that we’d help you do it in an animal-friendly and healthful way. Keep the bottle near the throttle, and avoid those cholesterol bombs—eggs—that slow a man down.”

Why does real mayo get a caution flag from PETA? Hens on egg farms, even so-called “free-range” farms, are commonly confined by the thousands to crowded, filthy warehouses for years before being sent to slaughter when they stop producing eggs. Eating eggs is bad for humans, too. One recent study found that eating eggs regularly is almost as hard on your arteries as is smoking cigarettes.

Bearing all that in mind, we’re confident that Dale Jr. will be taking vegan mayo for a test drive—in no time flat, of course.
