Campaign Updates: Animals Force-Fed Feces by Oreo Maker

PETA Buys Stock in Oreo Maker to Push Company Away From Animal Testing
May 20, 2025
PETA is taking the fight against cruel and deadly experiments on animals funded by Mondelēz International—maker of popular snack brands including Oreo, Ritz, and Triscuit—directly to its boardroom by purchasing shares of the publicly traded company. The move will allow PETA to attend Mondelēz’s shareholder meetings, submit resolutions, and speak directly with company leadership about ending funding for pointless junk-food tests on animals, which have included force-feeding feces from obese women to mice.
Oreo-Maker’s $10 Million Lesson in Honesty
February 27, 2025
Mondelēz International is paying a steep price for misleading consumers—agreeing to a $10 million settlement after falsely marketing its crackers as “100% whole grain.” If the company is willing to deceive the public about what’s in its products, imagine what else it’s hiding. As PETA Vice President Shalin Gala put it:
Paying a hefty $10 million to cover its tracks for deceptive claims on crackers strips bare any façade that Mondelēz International, maker of Oreo cookies, is committed to responsible stewardship or ethical standards. Since the company clearly will not voluntarily tell consumers the truth, PETA will: Mondelēz refuses to stop funding cruel experiments in which animals have been poisoned, force-fed human feces, and killed for unnecessary food tests, despite numerous requests from PETA and nearly 55,000 of our supporters. If Mondelēz wants to earn back customers’ trust, ending its support for ghastly animal torment and joining PETA’s Eat Without Experiments program would be a good start.
