Rosemary: She’s the Spice of Life! Adopt This Sweet Dog, While There’s Still Thyme
Sometimes, a PETA rescue story kicks off with a dog on the brink of death, an undercover investigation, or law enforcement calling on our field team for help. But occasionally, it’s a simple phone call—like the one we received from an open-admission shelter in rural Virginia: A petite pup was left anonymously in the shelter’s after-hours drop-off cage. The shelter—being already overburdened and in an underserved community, and with nearly no foot traffic—called on PETA for help, and we wasted no thyme responding.

Back at PETA’s shelter, after a roughly 4-hour road trip, Rosemary—as the shy but fun-loving girl was later named—was quick to show off her personality: Sweet with a side of spice.

Rosemary is roughly 3 years old and 17 lbs. She’s spayed …

…and vaccinated. Her foster guardian—a PETA fieldworker—and her family report that Rosemary is indeed the spice of life! The sweet-natured girl is great with kids and loves other dogs, and she’s studiously working on adding “potties outside” to her list of talents. She loves a good walk, stopping to smell the roses, and curling up next to her humans for some Zen.
