Position Objectives: 

To oversee and manage the operation of the (Jessica Beath/PETA) spay/neuter veterinary clinic in Ashland, VA

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Participate in the creation and execution of a transition plan to increase surgeries, services and general operation of the clinic
  • Oversee and ensure the smooth operation of the clinic, including scheduling, check-in and pick-up of patients, as well as miscellaneous administrative duties and special events
  • Provide supervision and support to clinic staff members
  • Oversee the maintenance of all program files and records
  • Knowledge of and strict compliance with laws, rules and regulations set forth in county and state requirements for operation of a veterinary clinic
  • Ensure veterinary medical and other equipment is regularly serviced and maintained
  • Establish annual budget amounts for assigned program accounts
  • Send daily reports about clinic operations to the supervisor and other designated parties
  • Establish and maintain contacts with local animal control, sheltering and adoption agencies throughout the clinic’s service region and provide education and outreach about clinic services
  • Prepare and present monthly reports and other data to the supervisor and other designated parties
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community sponsors
  • Participate in the creation and execution of special events to fundraise for PETA’s high-volume spay/neuter program
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

  • Degree in a related field or equivalent experience strongly preferred
  • Preferred minimum of three years of experience managing veterinary clinics OR an equivalent combination of proven effective management or leadership experience
  • Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions in crisis situations needing authority intervention
  • Proven excellent interpersonal skills, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to communicate effectively
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Willingness and ability to be available after hours and on weekends
  • Professional appearance
  • Ability to lift patients, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver’s license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record
  • Support for PETA’s philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA’s positions on issues
  • This position requires proof of the COVID-19 full vaccination
