Washington – As millions flock to the theaters during opening week of the highly anticipated Solo: A Star Wars Story, many lucky moviegoers will also be treated to a new award-winning video for PETA starring Wu-Tang Clan member RZA, which shows the longtime vegan morphing into different men, women, and animals while proclaiming, “We are all the same in all the ways that matter.” The ad will run as a movie preview and on lobby screens in theaters in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., before airing in other cities later this summer.
“Star Wars is the cinematic event of the season, and RZA will be right there to help set the stage for the classic tale of good versus evil,” says PETA Senior Vice President of Communications Lisa Lange. “PETA encourages Star Wars fans to be a force for good by embracing the powerful message that whether we have fur, feathers, fins, or just skin, we all deserve respect and freedom.”
PETA—whose motto reads, “Animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way”—notes that in this galaxy, other animals feel pain and joy and have a sense of self-preservation, just as humans do. Everyone can help keep them safe by choosing vegan meals, shopping for animal-free clothing, buying cruelty-free personal-care products, and staying away from circuses and theme parks that force them to perform.
RZA is part of a long list of celebrities—including Eve, Taraji P. Henson, Masta Killa, Paul McCartney, Joaquin Phoenix, and P!nk—who have teamed up with PETA to promote kindness to animals.
