Please see the following statement from PETA Vice President Dr. Alka Chandna regarding today’s announcement that beagle-breeding and testing facility Ridglan Farms will close, and Big Dog Ranch Rescue will purchase any remaining dogs and place them into loving homes:
PETA welcomes Ridglan Farms’ agreement to shut down both its breeding and testing operations and release all remaining dogs for adoption, which reflects years of relentless pressure from PETA and other animal advocates who refused to accept a system that breeds dogs and other animals only to confine, mutilate, poison, and kill them in laboratories. PETA will continue to work on ending the use of dogs, primates, and other animals in experiments and replacing these cruel, scientifically flawed practices with cutting-edge, superior methods that offer real promise for treatments and cures.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to experiment on”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kits for people who need a lesson in kindness. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow PETA on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
