If Domino’s won’t give the people what they want, PETA will. On Friday, a giant unicorn with a sign proclaiming, “Vegan Pizza Is Magical!” will lead PETA supporters in a vegan pizza giveaway outside the Domino’s on Atlantic Avenue. The piping-hot promo is part of PETA’s nationwide “Vegan Cheese, Please” campaign, which pressures Domino’s to add vegan cheese to its U.S. menu—as the company has already done in several other countries—to meet the growing demand for dairy-free pizza that doesn’t tear calves away from their distraught mothers or dump tons of methane into the atmosphere.
“Vegan pizza covered in melty, mouthwatering cheese is deliciously indulgent and kind to cows, the environment, and lactose-intolerant and health-conscious diners,” says PETA President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is calling on Domino’s to give the people what they want: vegan cheese on the menu.”
Where: Outside Domino’s, 2601 Atlantic Ave, Atlantic City
When: Friday, January 2, 12 noon

Why: Cows can recognize the faces of their friends in photographs and mourn when a loved one dies or when they’re separated from each other, yet in the dairy industry, female cows are forcibly impregnated and have their beloved calves stolen from them so the milk meant to nourish their babies can be sold to humans. Newborn males are slaughtered for veal, while female calves endure the same fate as their mothers until their bodies wear out and they’re sent to slaughter.
PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—points out that Every Animal Is Someone and offers free Empathy Kitsfor people who need a lesson in kindness. PETA’s free vegan starter kit can help anyone looking to make the switch. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow PETA on X, Facebook, or Instagram.
