Sec. 4-4. – Kennel definition.

A kennel is a location used for a business wherein any person engages in boarding, breeding, buying, letting for hire, or training animals for a fee or other compensation. This definition does not include properly licensed veterinary clinics or locations used primarily as the domicile of the animal owner and where the total fees or compensation for such services collected in a calendar year is less than 25 percent of the animal owner’s annual income.

Sec. 4-5. – Kennel operation.

Operation of a kennel is subject to approval by the development review board and the town council after receipt by the town of a written, notarized request describing the animals and the method of providing housing, accompanied by a nonrefundable application fee set forth by the town council and is on file in the town clerk’s office.
