Sec. 10-83. – License.

(d) The annual license fee for all animals that are spayed or neutered and have a registered microchip for identification purposes shall be $5.00. The annual license fee for all animals that are spayed or neutered but do not have a registered microchip shall be $25.00.

(e) Owners of animals that are not spayed or neutered shall be required to obtain an intact pet license. In order to obtain an intact pet license, the owner shall agree to allow the office of animal services to inspect all enclosures to determine their adequacy for confinement of the animal. An intact pet license shall be revoked if the owner is convicted of a violation for the animal being at large or animal mistreatment. An intact pet license shall be revoked for any owner found to be selling or otherwise disposing of puppies less than six weeks of age. The annual intact pet license fee shall be $75.00.

(f) A puppy/kitten license shall be available only for dogs and cats younger than one year. The license fee shall be $5.00 regardless of whether the animal is spayed or neutered. The age of the animal shall be determined by reliable documentation and by animal services officers’ best estimate, based on their training and experience. Proof of rabies vaccination shall not be required for this type of license.
