§ 9-1.1 Definitions.

KENNEL

Means any establishment wherein or whereon the business of boarding or selling dogs or breeding dogs for sale is carried on, except a pet shop.

§ 9-2.1 Licensing and Registration Required.

All dogs over seven (7) months of age kept, harbored or maintained in the Township shall be licensed and registered by the Township and shall bear evidence of such license at all times in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey. The owner shall state, at the time application is made for such license and upon printed form provided for such purpose, his or her name and address and the name, breed, color and sex of each dog owned or kept by the owner.

§ 9-8.5 License Required; Not Transferable.

Any person who owns, keeps, harbors or maintains a cat of licensing age must apply and procure annually from the licensing authority a license and official registration tag with license number for each cat so owned, kept, harbored or maintained. Licenses and registration tags shall not be transferable.

Article III Animal Shelters, Kennels and Pet Shops

§ 9-15.4 Shelter Fees.

Upon receiving any animal in custody brought to the shelter by an owner or person (except an Animal Control Officer, Police Officer or other employee or enforcing agent of the Township), the following schedule of fees shall apply to the use of the shelter:

d. For receiving unwanted animals brought to the shelter:

1. For Adult spayed/neutered and rabies vaccinated dogs and cats, each $30.00.   For Adult unspayed/unneutered rabies vaccinated dogs and cats, each $100.00.

§ 9-16.1 License Required for Kennel or Pet Shop.

No person shall operate a kennel or pet shop without a license issued by the Division of Health.

§ 9-19 LICENSE FEES.

Editors Note: Pursuant to subsection 2-128.3a1 of the Township of Edison Charter and Code, any resident of the Township who shall have obtained the age of sixty-five (65) years old is hereby exempt from the municipal fees of this section.

All applicants for permits and licenses and for renewal thereof as encompassed herein shall be made in accordance with this chapter and shall be accompanied by the payment of the fees prescribed by the following table. Permits and licenses shall expire and shall be renewed in accordance with the expiration date as prescribed by the following schedule:
