§ 5-1 DEFINITIONS.
KENNEL shall mean any establishment wherein or whereon the business of boarding or selling dogs or breeding dogs for sale is carried on, except a pet shop.
§ 5-8 REGULATION OF KENNEL, PET SHOP, SHELTER OR POUND.
§ 5-8.1 License.
Any person who keeps or operates or proposes to establish a kennel, pet shop, shelter or pound shall apply to the Township for a license entitling the person to keep or operate such an establishment.
The application shall describe the premises, where the establishment is located, the purpose or purposes for which it is to be maintained and shall be accompanied by the approval of the Township Department of Health showing compliance with the local and State rules and regulations governing location and sanitation at such an establishment.
All licenses issued for a kennel, pet shop, shelter or pound shall expire on the last day of June of each year and be subject to revocation by the Township of Aberdeen on recommendation of the State Department of Health or the Township Department of Health for failure to comply with the rules and regulations of the State Department or Township after the owner has been afforded a hearing by the State or Township. Any person holding such license shall not be required to obtain individual licenses for dogs owned by such licenses and kept at such establishment; such licenses shall not be transferable to another owner or to different premises.
§ 5-8.2 Location.
No such kennel, pet shop, shelter or pound shall be located, operated or maintained, except as permitted in the Chapter XXV, Land Development of the Township of Aberdeen.
§ 5-8.3 Fees.
The annual license fee for a kennel providing accommodations for ten (10) or less dogs shall be ten ($10.00) dollars and for more than ten (10) dogs, twenty-five ($25.00) dollars. The annual license fee for a pet shop shall be ten ($10.00) dollars. No fee shall be charged for a shelter or pound.
§ 5-9 VIOLATIONS AND PENALTIES.
The provisions of this chapter shall be enforced by the Aberdeen Police Department and Department of Health. Any person(s) who is found to be in violation of the provisions of this chapter shall be subject to a minimum fine of one hundred ($100.00) dollars per day with a maximum fine not to exceed one thousand ($1,000.00) dollars.
§ 5-10.2 Responsibilities of Owners of Domesticated Cats.
c. The owner of a sexually intact (not spayed or neutered) domesticated cat shall not permit his/her cat to roam unsupervised.
