8-4A-5: LICENSE REQUIRED:

A.   License: Owners of all canines and felines over six (6) months of age, except those exempted in this section, shall obtain a license from the City Clerk or from a designated representative agreeing to sell license tags on behalf of the City. Companion animals other than canines and felines residing in the City of Mason City may be licensed, at the discretion of the owner.

D.   Fee: The license fee shall be established by resolution approved by the City Council. A lower license fee shall be established for animals that have been neutered or spayed. Every owner claiming a neutered or spayed animal shall furnish the veterinarian’s certificate showing that the animal for which the license is sought has had the appropriate operation.
