§ 94.33 FASTENING OF ANIMALS.

No animal shall be hitched, tied, tethered or fastened by any rope, chain or cord that is directly attached to the animal’s neck. Animals that must be tied, tethered, hitched or fastened to restrain them must wear a properly fitted collar or harness made of leather or nylon, but not a choker type collar. This is not to prohibit the proper use of choker collars in the training of animals. Any animal tied, tethered or hitched shall be on a tether not less than 15 feet in length, positioned so it shall not tangle, and the tether shall not weigh more than one-eighth the weight of the animal or five pounds, whichever is less. An animal may not be tethered more than ten hours at a time and not more than 12 hours in any 24-hour period.
