Sec. 10-1. – Definitions.

Kennel or cattery means any premises wherein any person engages in the business of boarding, breeding, buying, letting for hire, training for a fee, or selling dogs or cats. Four or more dogs or cats owned, harbored, possessed, or cared for or kept in the custody of any person shall be construed and constitute a kennel.

Sec. 10-51. – Required; exceptions.

Any person owning, keeping, harboring, or having custody of any animal over four months of age within this town must obtain a license as provided in this section. This provision does not apply to small caged birds or to aquatic and amphibian animals kept solely as pets.

Sec. 10-54. – Fees—Issuance.

A license shall be issued upon acceptance of the application and after payment of the following application fee, as appropriate:

(1) Neutered male dog or cat …..$ 5.00

(2) Spayed female dog or cat …..5.00

(3) Unspayed female dog or cat …..7.00

(4) Unneutered male dog or cat …..7.00

Sec. 10-73. – Basis of issuance; applicant’s willingness to comply with regulations; payment of applicable fee.

(a) When a permit applicant has shown that he is willing and able to comply with the regulations promulgated by the town council, a permit shall be issued upon payment of the applicable fee. No kennel, cattery, or other commercial animal establishment shall be permitted in any residential area.
