Sec. 10-161. – Disposal of animals and provisions of neutering or spaying adopted animals.

Animals not claimed at the end of the redemption time period specified, or after the quarantine period for animals impounded, pursuant to this section, shall become property of the city and shall be disposed of in a manner determined by the city. Before any such animal may be adopted from the animal shelter, impoundment fees shall be paid, and provision shall be made for such animal to be neutered or spayed and vaccinated against rabies and all other communicable diseases. If said dog or cat is under the age of six months, if female, or eight months if male, provisions shall be made to have said dog or cat neutered or spayed between the ages of six and eight months if female or eight and ten months if male.
