Sec. 6-28. – License tax for and vaccination of dogs.

(a) License and tax. Every person owning, or in control of, any dog being and remaining within the corporate limits of the city shall pay a license tax for such dog, as provided in this section; and it shall be unlawful for the owner or person in control of any such dog to suffer or permit the same to be and remain within the corporate limits of the city without having paid the dog license tax imposed by this section and without having caused such dog to be duly licensed and to wear the metallic or plastic plate provided, except that nothing in this subsection shall apply to any dog not exceeding six months of age.

(c) License fees and term. The applicant, in addition to any costs of processing the certificate of immunization, shall pay to the city clerk $5.00 for each male dog and spayed female dog over the age of six months and $7.00 for each unspayed female dog over the age of six months. Each such dog license shall be valid for the one-year period commencing January 1 and ending December 31.
