(b) Licensing of dogs and cats.

(7) The board of county commissioners shall establish by resolution the fees to be charged for licensing.

a. Discount fees for sterilized dogs and/or cats are authorized but not required. Such discount will be allowed only upon presentation of a certificate of sterilization or of the dog’s or cat’s inability to reproduce, signed by a veterinarian licensed in any state, or upon presentation of proof of prior issuance of a license for the dog or cat at a similarly discounted fee.

Sec. 10-8. – Publicly funded sterilization programs.

The use of public funds to pay all or a portion of the costs of sterilizing cats and dogs is hereby authorized to the extent the board has specifically designated funds for such programs and by resolution provided policies to govern such programs.
