Sec. 8-55. – Disposition of animals.

(b) No unclaimed dog or cat shall be released for adoption without being sterilized or without written agreement from the adopter guaranteeing that such animal will be sterilized within 30 days of the specified date in the contract for puppies and kittens under two months of age. The city administrator shall develop the fees to be paid at the time of adoption for dogs and for cats. Adoption fees set by the city administrator will include the following: physical exam, rabies shot, and spaying or neutering at the appropriate age. The adoption fee shall be collected and disbursements shall be made to the participating veterinarian who actually performs the service.
