‘The Darkness’ Lead Singer Feels ‘The Lightness’ in Being Vegan

As the voice of The Darkness, Justin Hawkins sang his way to the top of the music charts with straight-up rock hits such as “I Believe in a Thing Called Love.” Recently, he sat down with PETA at L.A.’s iconic Fonda Theatre for an exclusive video interview about animal-free eating.

Hawkins credits his wife with informing him about the cruelty inflicted on animals in today’s meat, egg, and dairy industries—and just how easy it is to go vegan. “There’s a lot of substitutes that do simulate meat, but there’s also some brilliant vegetables that Mother Nature has invented, so I don’t think there’s any excuses, really,” he says.

Watch Hawkins’ exclusive chat with PETA about going vegan—and all he’s learned it’s good for.

Be a rock star for animals by going vegan and help yourself to all the recipes and tips that you need. It’s never too early (or late) to make the kind, smart choice to start a plant-based lifestyle, giving your health a boost and sparing living beings immense suffering. It’s easier than ever to stop eating meat, eggs, and dairy “products.” As Hawkins points out, there are countless compassionate options in grocery stores and restaurants around the country.
