You’ll Never Guess What’s Hiding in lululemon’s Goose-Down Jackets

Published by Michelle Reynolds.

What’s hiding in yoga and athletic apparel company lululemon’s goose-down jackets? PETA’s newest video is the cruelty in every stitch:

There’s nothing soft about the down industry. Geese are violently killed for their feathers. Some have their throats slit while they’re fully conscious and able to feel pain. That kind of cruelty is in direct opposition to the yoga principle of ahimsa, or nonviolence. With so many cruelty-free ways to keep warm this winter, including coats made with Thinsulate, Climashield, and PrimaLoft (which are also environmentally friendly), there is no reason why geese should suffer for a lululemon jacket.

What You Can Do

Let lululemon know that selling down is inconsistent with its promotion of compassion and environmental stewardship and that you won’t be buying while geese are dying.
