‘Do I Look Weak to You?!’ Comedian Preacher Lawson Snaps Back at Mean Comments in New PETA Video
The only killing this headliner does is on stage! Comedian, weightlifter, and animal rights advocate Preacher Lawson is showing everyone how he fuels up before sets—from the gym to the comedy clubs.

In a powerful new campaign for PETA, the America’s Got Talent finalist flexes his compassion, comedic prowess, and plant-powered physique, closing with one simple request: Please, go vegan.
Lawson demonstrates his vigorous fitness routine from the weight room, proving that nutritious vegan foods are the ultimate performance enhancers.
Between impressive reps, he describes how he chose to ditch animal-based products after watching Earthlings—a powerful documentary narrated by Joaquin Phoenix that exposes the cruel, environmentally destructive ways in which humans exploit and abuse other animals. As a vegan for nearly six years (and counting), Lawson continues to show his fans and fellow lifters that strength and kindness go hand in hand.
“We all breathe, we all bleed, we all get happy and sad. All of us.”
Being vegan isn’t just about acknowledging that other animals have feelings and unique personalities—it’s also the best thing humans can do for the planet and their own health. “You don’t want to hurt the world,” Lawson says.
In another video, Lawson shows off his quick crowd-work skills by cheekily snapping back at mean comments about being vegan.
“All vegans are weak AF,” one comment reads. Ripping off his shirt, Lawson retorts: “Do I look weak to you?!” (Spoiler alert: He doesn’t.)
“Chickens are ugly and dumb though. They probably don’t care if we eat them,” another comment says. Lawson replies: “You might be ugly and dumb—but we’re still not going to eat you.”
Why Go Vegan?
Our fellow animals are distinct individuals who can feel love, pain, and fear. On farms—even at facilities that use misleading labels like “free range” or “humane”—sensitive birds are crammed into filthy, windowless sheds, where they cannot take dust baths, bask in the sun, or meaningfully socialize with others. When left in peace, these social animals establish complex hierarchies known as “pecking orders” within their flocks.
In the dairy industry, loving mother cows sometimes cry out for days when farmers tear their precious babies away from them shortly after birth. At slaughterhouses, workers slit animals’ throats, often while they can still feel it. Many birds remain conscious while they’re dragged into the scalding-hot water of defeathering or hair-removal tanks or their bodies are hacked apart.
As Lawson exemplifies, it’s humans’ responsibility to take action against this cruelty by never consuming animals’ flesh, eggs, or milk. “If you’re against murder, you’re against murder,” he says.
