Mango, Mixed Berry, and Strawberry Smoothies from Baskin-Robbins

Ice Cream, Smoothies, Floats, and Fizzes: Indulge Your Vegan Sweet Tooth at Baskin-Robbins

Published by PETA Staff.

There’s something about visiting an ice cream parlor that evokes a feeling of nostalgia and brings out the kid in us. Many of us can recall birthday parties, youth group outings, family fun days, or high school dates spent sitting in bright pink chairs trading spoonfuls of Baskin-Robbins’ 31 flavors. Folks who now know that desserts are better without dairy can still recreate those memories by popping into a Baskin-Robbins scoop shop for a cool, sweet vegan treat.

Much has changed since Baskin-Robbins first opened its doors in 1945. Nutritional science has advanced to link animal-derived foods to heart disease, diabetes, dementia, strokes, and other serious health problems. Numerous exposés have revealed the immense suffering that mother cows endure on dairy farms, including having their precious babies stolen so that humans can drink the infants’ milk. And climate researchers urge a shift away from animal agriculture.

As shoppers’ values and tastes change, everyone from major international brands to mom-and-pop diners is meeting the demand for healthy, humane, eco-friendly vegan cuisine—including one of the world’s largest ice cream companies!

Ready to dig in?

Here are the vegan options at Baskin-Robbins.

Pop into a scoop shop near you for refreshing frozen fruit sorbets in varieties like Lemon or Daiquiri Ice. Or indulge in creamy concoctions in flavors including Non-Dairy Cookies ‘n Crème or Non-Dairy Jamoca Chip. Offerings may change by location or season, but friendly scoop-istas will be happy to point you in the right direction. Make it a float or a fizz by asking them to blend your favorite flavor with your choice of soda. Or level up your dessert with the cake or sugar cone and animal-friendly toppings like fruit, nuts, chocolate syrup, and Oreo cookie pieces.

Prefer sips over scoops? Go for a classic mango or strawberry smoothie, try the Lava Colada strawberry and piña colada tropical mocktail, or spice things up with a Mangonada smoothie with chili peppers, reminiscent of Mexican frozen beverages.

If you don’t have a scoop shop near you, you can still enjoy Baskin-Robbins dairy-free delights at home. The freezer section of your local grocery store may offer a dairy-free BR pint that’s ready to go—and ready to help you create a kinder planet one tasty spoonful at a time.
