What:    Holding signs that proclaim, “Stop ALL Gun Violence,” PETA members will stand outside the National Rifle Association (NRA) convention in Dallas on Friday and demand an end to the use of firearms against all living, feeling beings—including non-human animals.

When:    Friday, May 4, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.

Where:    Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, 650 S. Griffin St. (near the intersection with Canton Street), Dallas

“The culture of gun violence often starts with hunting helpless animals, whose families are ripped apart and who are left badly injured when hunters wound them,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA also wants gun-control advocates to stop giving hunters a free pass, because there’s nothing responsible about fostering a sadistic urge to kill.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to abuse in any way”—notes that hunters kill millions of animals every year. Many are injured but not killed and escape only to die slowly and painfully from blood loss and starvation, and orphans of parents killed by hunters are left vulnerable to starvation, dehydration, and predators.
