Sneaky Ads Give Shoppers More Than They Bargained For

Animals winning at Cannes? Yes, they can. Check out this clever ad campaign from PETA Asia-Pacific and top ad firm McCann Erickson Singapore that just snagged a Silver Award for creative excellence at the Cannes International Festival Outdoor Awards:

The ads offer designer shoes, belts, and handbags at “unbelievable prices.” When curious smart phone users scan over the barcodes on the poster to get more information, the shoppers see Joaquin Phoenix’s exposé of the exotic skins trade or Pamela Anderson’s video about the horrors of the leather industry. The ads were featured on bus stops in space donated by Clear Channel.

The award is great, but the real prize was the opportunity to show shoppers that clothes are much more appealing when they don’t involve stealing.
