Lisa Marie – Rescued Chimpanzee Lisa Marie Finally Has a Family Again

When Lisa Marie was little more than a month old, she was torn away from her mother and shipped to an Elvis impersonator who forced her to perform in his shows. When she wasn’t on stage, she was often kept inside a tiny cage in a basement and restrained by a padlocked collar. With the help of a generous PETA patron, we rescued her and transferred her to the spacious Save the Chimps sanctuary in Florida. Today, she’s a member of a large chimpanzee family and spends her days climbing, running, and playing in the Florida sun.

What You Can Do

When you see chimpanzee “actors” and other captive wild animals on screen or performing in a show, think about what they experienced before their performance and what they’ll experience after it. Never buy tickets to a show that uses live animals, and encourage your friends and family not to, either. Share this post to spread the word: Animals are NOT OURS to use for entertainment.
