Watch: This DIY Big Mac Recipe Just Made Our Dreams Come True

Published by .

Sometimes, you get a random craving for something that you liked before you made the compassionate switch to vegan eating. It happens to the best of us. After all, not many people stop eating meat because they dislike the way it tastes. People choose to go vegan for a variety of reasons, such as for animals, for their health, and out of concern for the environment. The good news is that tasty vegan options at restaurants are growing exponentially—thanks to demand from caring people like you. Pretty soon, we’ll be seeing vegan drive-throughs and other fast-casual dining establishments on every corner—but until then, you can always make a plant-based version of an old favorite at home, and we can help.

When we got word that there was a new brand of vegan burgers to try, we knew that we had to make something special. This burger is unlike any other burger on the market. Midwest-based company Hungry Planet makes it with premium ingredients, and each patty has 27 grams of protein and 7 grams of fiber. It’s affordable, too! Watch the video below, and enjoy!

Ingredients

Instructions

  • For the secret sauce, mix together the vegan mayonnaise, mustard, relish, vinegar, salt, paprika, and garlic and onion powder in a small bowl until well combined. Set aside.
  • Heat the vegan butter or coconut oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the vegan burger patties, cover, and cook for 3 minutes. Flip, top each with a vegan cheese slice, cover, and cook for another 3 minutes or until the “cheese” melts.
  • To assemble the burger, layer the bottom bun with half of the secret sauce, onions, and lettuce. Add one cooked vegan burger patty and top with half of the pickles. For the middle bun, use another bottom bun or a top bun with the excess bread cut off, if needed. Layer on the remaining sauce, onions, and lettuce, then add the other vegan burger patty, the rest of the pickles, and the top bun.
  • Serve with baked French fries and enjoy!

Cows used to produce beef and cheese in the meat and dairy industries endure lifelong suffering. Thanks to brands such as Hungry Planet and Follow Your Heart, you can enjoy juicy, “beefy” burger patties and rich, melty “cheese” without harming a single cow.
