PETA Supports an Elephant Ride?

In a creative twist that doesn’t involve forcing elephants to plod in endless circles, the Indian city of Hastinapuram (itself the Sanskrit name for “elephant city”) has devised an artificial elephant that rides on a flatbed and is pulled by a tractor as people take it for a spin.
Real elephants suffer when forced to give rides. They live in fear of being hit with steel-tipped bullhooks and are chained during the hours they aren’t working. They have a very poor quality of life.
