§ 28-2 License and registration required.

All dogs kept, harbored or maintained by their owners in the Borough of Wildwood Crest shall be licensed and registered if over seven months of age. Dog licenses shall be issued by the Municipal Clerk upon payment of a license fee of $15 for each dog, together with the additional fee provided by Chapter 181 of the Laws of 1983, which fee is presently in the amount of $0.20, and further together with the additional fee provided by Chapter 172 of the laws of 1983 in the case of any dog of reproductive age which has not had its reproductive capacity permanently altered through sterilization, which fee is presently in the amount of $3, as well as the New Jersey one-year registration tag which is presently in the amount of $1. Licenses shall expire on December 31 of the current year. The provisions of this section shall not be intended to apply to dogs whose owners are nonresidents temporarily within the borough, provided that said dog is licensed by another jurisdiction, nor to dogs brought into the borough for the purpose of participating in any dog show. Dogs used as “seeing eye,” “service” and “hearing ear” dogs shall be licensed and registered as other dogs hereinabove provided for, except that the owner or keeper of such dog shall not be required to pay any fee therefor.
