§ 146-2 License required.

No person shall keep or harbor any dog of licensing age within the Borough of South Plainfield in the County of Middlesex without first obtaining a license therefor, to be issued by the Borough Clerk upon application by the owner and payment of the prescribed fee, and no person shall keep or harbor any dog in said Borough except in compliance with the provisions of this article.

§ 146-4 Fees.

A. The person applying for the license and registration tag for a dog shall pay the annual fee of $15 for a spayed/neutered dog or the annual fee of $20 for a nonspayed/nonneutered dog. Said license, registration tags and renewals thereof shall expire on the last day of January each year. If a dog license tag has been misplaced or lost, the Board of Health or the Office of the Borough Clerk may issue a duplicate dog license tag for a fee of $5 per dog.

§ 146-18 Display of license.

Any person who shall own, keep or harbor a cat of licensing age shall annually apply for and procure from the Health Officer of the municipality a license and official registration tag with the license number or a registration tag with the license number or a registration sleeve for each cat so owned, kept or harbored and shall place upon such cat a collar or other device with the license number securely fastened or displayed thereto. Acceptable methods of displaying the license number shall include but are not limited to breakaway or elastic collars. License tags or sleeves are not transferable.

§ 146-24 Fees.

The person applying for the license and registration tag for a cat shall pay the annual fee of $15 for a spayed/neutered cat or the annual fee of $20 for a nonspayed/nonneutered cat. Said license, registration tags and renewals thereof shall expire on the last day of January each year.
