5-1.1 Licensing Period
Each and every dog and cat shall be licensed and shall bear evidence of such license at all times, in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey. The licensing period for dog and cat licenses shall be a period of one (1) year and shall run from February 1 to January 31 in the succeeding year.
5.4 KENNELS
5-4.1 Definitions
As used in this section:
Kennel shall mean any establishment wherein or whereon the business of boarding or selling dogs or breeding dogs for sale is carried on.
5-4.2 Kennels Prohibited
No person shall maintain a kennel, as defined herein, within the Borough, except that any kennel in existence on January I, 1969 may be continued if properly licensed hereunder and provided that the size of the kennel shall not be increased.
5-8.2 Licensing Requirement.
Each cat must have its license number displayed. Any person who shall own, keep, harbor or maintain a cat of licensing age shall annually apply for and procure from the Borough Clerk or designated representative a license and official metal registration tag with license number or a registration sleeve for each cat so owned, kept, harbored or maintained and shall place upon such cat a collar or other device with the license number securely fastened or displayed. Acceptable methods of displaying the license number shall include but are not limited to breakaway or elastic collars. License tags are not transferrable. As an alternative to displaying the license number by collar or similar device, an owner may utilize microchip technology as a form of identification of the animal. If microchip technology is employed then the owner shall provide this information to the Borough Clerk when the license for the cat is renewed each year.
