§ 5-1.1 Definitions.
The words hereinafter defined shall have the meaning herein indicated for the purpose of this ordinance.
KENNEL
Shall mean any establishment wherein or whereon the business of boarding or selling cats or dogs for sale is carried on except a pet shop.
No person shall keep or harbor any pet within the Borough of Farmingdale without first obtaining a license therefor, to be issued by the Clerk of the Borough upon application by the owner and payment of the prescribed fee, and no person shall keep or harbor any pet in said Borough except in compliance with the provisions of this chapter.
§ 5-2.3 License Fee.
Each and every pet shall be duly licensed and owners of said pets shall maintain evidence of such license(s) at all times, in acceptance with the laws of the State of New Jersey. The annual fee for such license shall be as follows:

b. Expiration; Surcharge; Late Fee. Said license will expire on the last day in January in each year. A $3 surcharge will be assessed to pets that are not neutered or spayed for each year license is valid. A $25 late fee will be assessed for all licenses acquired after January 31.
Article II Kennels, Pet Shops, Shelters and Pounds
§ 5-7.1 Kennel, Pet Shop, Shelter.
Any person who keeps, operates or proposes to establish a kennel, a pet shop, a shelter, or a pound shall apply to the Clerk of the Borough for a license entitling him to keep or operate such establishment, which application shall be accompanied by the written approval of the County Board of Health showing compliance with the local and State rules and regulations governing location of and sanitation at such establishments.
All such licenses shall expire on the last day of January of each year and shall be subject to revocation by the Borough Council on recommendations of the State or County Department of Health for failure to comply with rules and regulations of the aforementioned agencies, after the owner has been afforded a hearing by same. Any person holding such license shall not be required to secure individual licenses for pets owned by such licensee and kept at such establishment and such licenses shall not be transferable to another premises or persons.
§ 5-7.2 Kennel, Pet Shop Fees.
The annual license fee for a kennel providing accommodations for 10 or less pets shall be $25, and for more than 10 pets, $50. The annual fee for a pet shop shall be $25. No fee shall be charged for a shelter or pound.
